NEW scenes added to Ch. 6 and 7!!
We arrived at Cyclops, still in our cold wet clothes from the snow fight. The wall facing the entrance was Emerald green and the orange stained ceiling lights hung low and dim. The coffee counter was to the far right of the building and included a larger seating area towards the back for people dining in. To the far left was the alcohol bar which also contained a room full of tables. During the day they often had a sliding wall that they could pull shut until it was time to start serving alcohol. A bulletin board was posted in the entryway. A handful of bands had posted flyers for their shows but it was the ad for free psychic readings that mostly caught my attention. It was printed on white legal paper, Nouveau style banners bordered the page and curly font in the center read: Free Psychic Readings with Madame Vera, Thursday Nov 14th between 1-4pm. I was a skeptic when it came to that sort of thing, yet I found myself intrigued.

It's Almost Time to Query!
FIND AGENT: (Backtrack...) --> Write Query Letter.
In September, I plan on attending the annual Chicago Writer's Conference! I've known about it for a few years and I really wanted to go last year but couldn't swing it, so it has to be this year! It's Sept. 27-29th; Kathy should be joining me assuming she can find a sitter.
--Literary MarketplaceAuthors seeking literary representation are advised that some agents request a nominal reading fee which may be applied to the agent's commission upon representation. Other agencies may charge substantially higher fees which may not be applicable to a future commission and which are not refundable. The recommended course is to first send a query letter with an outline, sample chapter, and a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE). Should an agent express interest in handling the manuscript, full details of fees and commissions should be obtained in writing before the complete manuscript is sent. Should an agency require significant advance payment from an author, the author is cautioned to make a careful investigation to determine the agency's standing in the industry before entering an agreement. The author should always retain a copy of the manuscript in his or her possession.

Ch.4 Maxine Excerpt
Dominic's
hand fell on my shoulder before I had the door even half way open. I
turned just enough so that I could see him out of the corner of my
eye. “I'm doing my best, but I can't always protect you if you're
not with me.”
“Protect?”
his choice of words caught me off guard. “We're both helping Alba,
remember? I'm not exactly sure what you're implying.”
His
dark eyes glistened as he blinked back his annoyance. The look
in his dark eyes wasn't far from the worried one I had just seen in
Gage's. “I don't understand it either,” was all he said before
releasing my shoulder. His jaw
seemed to tighten as he eyed me, just a few feet of emtpy air between
us. I stood quietly for a moment, contemplating a reaction.
Dominic seemed to be fighting back
some reactions of his own. I noticed him part his mouth to speak,
then quickly shut it a couple times as if an internal war was going
on in his head and he was really struggling with picking a side. I
could feel waves of pure frustration blaring off of him.

Ch. 5 edits have begun!
Motivation? Getting out of retail! lol.
I'm almost halfway through my 2nd round of edits, and Kathy is beginning round 1 of edits in chapter 4. :) Props to her for finding time to edit with a baby to take care of!
She'll probably re-edit after my second round, then as she finishes that I'll do a (hopefully) final read through to make sure it all works, still.
It's coming along great!
